Cleanser: Really foamy and harsh. This cleanser does get your skin "squeaky clean", but skin is not meant to be stripped and that is what this kit does.
Exfoliating Acne Gel: Very harsh, will dry skin out completely. I had to stop using this because my skin couldn't handle it anymore.
Lotion: Super lightweight, not very moisturizing and does not counteract the drying properties of the other products.
Spot Treatment: Somewhat works. Like the other products, it is very drying and doesn't really 'zap' the pimple to be less red and less noticeable. It really dries out the skin around the blemish, too. After the blemish is flattened, it leaves a very red hyperpigmentation spot.

Overall, this kit is not very effective because it seems to target drying out the skin and not addressing the issues of acne causing bacteria. It is full of salicylic acid, which is a good exfoliator, but that doesn't address the bacteria or underlying causes (like hormone fluctuation). I would highly recommend using a nice, balanced cleanser (like Purity Made Simple or Kate Somerville's Gentle wash) and a lightweight lotion treatment (like philosophy's All Over Acne Treatment or Clinique's Clearing Moisturizer), and a nice moisturizer (Kate Somerville's oil-free moisturizer is great).
Murad's kit will derail your skin's natural ability to heal itself and cause increased oil production along with irritation and more breakouts.

I have only been using the acne complex kit for 6days, and already i see a HUGE difference. My skin feels so clean and not irritated what so ever, causing less swelling,less redness and alot less pain. Even if i do go threw a purging period, i trust murad completly. PS: i think the pure skin supplments are a must if you have hormonal acne like me!All together...Murad is a real confidence booster!!

Its now my second week of using Murad, i only have the facial cleanser. I didnt purchase the kit since i already have ZENMED products that are working well for my skin, and i ran out of the facial cleanser and the thing about Zenmed is that you can only buy it online so i went scouting for other products which you can buy in-store and i found Murad. i have tried proactive, all prescribed topicals from retina-a micro to evoclin .....this was my final resort before accutane as i so did not want to start that......so i ordered and it took about 2-4 weeks for my skin to adapt to the line SO BE PATIENT....but now my skin is completely flawless!!! I can finally have facials and do things for my skin i could NEVER do before as my face was Always broken out.....Thank Goodness for this murad acne line...I do buy the tonor seperate along with the kit and i have not had a breakout since..>BEST ACNE LINE THERE IS!!!

all you need is the Cleanser, a good toner and then the lotion - it's terrific. I too bought the kit and at first the acid REALLY dried out my face, but you have to know your skin and realize that the more dry it becomes, the harder your pores work to produce oil. Result: more Acne. Cut the acid, cut the spot treatment and just work on cleansing and hydrating your skin. Murad works extremely well on the latter.

I tried the products with the salycilic acid in it and it made my adult acne much much worse. I later found out that I am allergic to salycilic acid - go figure. I now use Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for oily skin ALONG WITH THE SKIN PERFECTING LOTION FROM MURAD and all of my acne is GONE! I also scrub twice weekly with Queene Helene mint julup natural scrub ($3.00 in drug stores). This regime works for me.

When i started using this product i was a bit afraid because after using proactiv and it did work i was like well i might as well give murad a try. Week one i was like ok. i saw hugh changes in my skin and by week two. my skin felt so soft. i was like YEAH!!!! something that finally works!!!!

My husband had terrible rosacea on his face with lots of breakouts, scarring, etc. He now has CLEAR skin! The transformation has been amazing. But you must be patient. It appears that things are getting worse before they get better. But a few months into the regimen we saw marked difference. Now a few years later he has practically no breakouts!

I started using this product approximately 3 years ago. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! At first, it brings up a lot of pimples to the surface. I was a little worried when I started using the Murad product and more pimples appeared (instead of disappearing). But, then, after about 4 weeks, no more of the large red boil like pimples appeared. Also, the tube of yellow specifically for pimples will bring it to the surface and dry it out. If you can make sure not to squeeze the pimple, the inflammation will disappear without any scarring.

AFter reading many reviews on this product. i have notice that many have given up when only using it for a couple of weeks. I have been using Murad Acne complex kit for 2 weeks now and I admit my skin looks worse and has broken out more. One thing i notice is that the Exfoilating Gel doesnt leave my skin dry. Thats good. THe cleansers is refreshing. AFter i use it it lightens my pimples and blemishes. Then i wonder why am I breaking out more. I contacted Murad, which they were very helpful, and they told me that your skin goes through a purging process. Bringing all the trap oil and dirt to the surface in order to clear your pores. This process takes about 4-6 weeks. I have notice many people have quit before then. I will give it another review once im at the 5 week. Hoping that I would start to see improvement.

I saw the negative reviews and am very puzzled. I suffered from a severe breakout for months, then I tried this stuff and it worked immediately. I have combination skin, and it breaks out more if I am dry, not oily. I did not like the gel/exfoliator (I believe that is the stuff that people found drying and irritating), but the spot treatment and acne gel wash was wonderful. I did not use the moisture treatment. I use Keihls, as I have for more than 10 years. The instructions tell you not to use any other acne treatment, but I find that if you use the gell cleanser, the spot treatment, and even the toner (sold separately), along with a moisturizer of your choice that is very gentle and does not have acne treatment in it (as they advise), that you will see results. I have adult acne and this really helped me. It should be less expensive, it is a TRIAL kit and all. I do recommend this product.
